The War Room features an extensive collection
of uniforms from various branches of the armed services. |
|
There are many photographs and documents
on display in the War Room, including the famous Life Magazine
cover that depicted a wounded Sgt. Harrison Bell of Hazleton.
On the wall is a framed montage of photos of Hazleton area heroes
killed in World War I. Conflicts memorialized here range from
the Civil War to the Gulf War. Artifacts from that latest U.S.
skirmish include leaflets dropped by the Allies on Iraqi troops
and a medal conferred on U.S. soldiers by the government of
Saudi Arabia. |

Rows of framed insignia and
medals line one wall in the museum's War Room Exhibit. |
The
War Room includes scores of items contributed by Hazleton area veterans.
There are helmets, both enemy and Allied; a bugle, a saber and other
weapons. One of the more unusual objects is a German surgical scissors
bearing the engraved likeness of Adolph Hitler on one side and a
swastika on the other.
