The Old-Fashioned Kitchen
|
The Old-Fashioned Kitchen is one
of our most popular exhibits.
On the left is a vintage ice box.
The table in center was used by Anna Betterly of St. Johns, who
was a cook for George Washington in the Revolutionary War.

A close-up of the Bride coal stove, a centerpiece
of the Old-Fashioned Kitchen exhibit. The stove was manufactured
in Hazleton and was typical of stoves found in regional homes in
the early 20th century.
In front of the stove are a coffee grinder (left)
and a cabbage shredder, used to make cole slaw.
|
| The kitchen contains an interesting
collection of vintage items, including cast-iron utensils, a copper
milk measurer, canning jars, and a dough pan, as well as antique wooden
chairs. Also included are a gas lamp and an old scale. |
