Welcome to the Greater Hazleton Historical Society World Wide Web site.

The society was founded in 1980 in an effort to preserve the history of the Hazleton area.

Three years later, the society purchased the former Pioneer Firehouse at 55 N. Wyoming St. from the city of Hazleton. Today, the building houses our museum and headquarters.

The building is one of Hazleton's most historic, having once housed the community's borough building and police department in the days before the town was incorporated as a city.

For those who cannot visit the museum, this Web site will give a sampling of what we have to offer.
