Old-Fashoned Kitchen Indian Artifacts

 

Artifacts and memorabilia depicting the history of the Hazleton area are located throughout the three floors of the Greater Hazleton Historical Society Museum.

The museum is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 1:30 and on weekends by appointments. During the summer, the museum is closed on Mondays.

Among our exhibits are:

The Company Store – Replica of the coal company store and merchandise for the mining family. The Kitchen – Featuring an antique icebox, coal stove and various kitchen utensils. Historic Dress Styles – A collection of dresses dating back to the turn-of-the-century.
The Liberty Band – A tribute to Hazleton's oldest band, dating back to the Civil War. The School Room – Features antique desks, educational materials and local artifacts. The Laundry Room – Washtubs, wringers and other antique laundry items
The War Room – Featuring Joseph Garzio's collection of war memorabilia. Indian Artifacts – The Chris Wilhelm collection of Native American artifacts. The Dentist's Office – A 1920s era office with furnishings donated by Dr. James J. Falvello.
Mining Exhibit – Tools, implements, mine rescue apparatus and rare photographs. City of Churches – Hymnals, prayer books, baptismal font, steeple bell and more. Postcards and Photos – Extensive collection of local picture postcards and photographs.
Music – Historic sheet music, records, victrolas, melodian, piano, Kellmer organ and more. Children's Toys – Antique toys and doll house, as well as other items. Theaters – Signs, posters, seats and other memorabilia from theaters of the past.
